In addition to all of the Dodge Durango’s noteworthy hauling capabilities, storage capacity and flexibility, and efficient performance, one of the 42 safety features stands out to me: the ParkSense Rear Park Assist.

The ParkSense Rear Park Assist is a technology that becomes active when you shift your Dodge Durango into Reverse and you are driving no more than 10 mph.

The system works by utilizing four sensors in the rear bumper that scan for obstacles up to 79 inches (200 cm) away from your vehicle.

When your Dodge Durango is in park, you can turn the system on or off via your Electronic Vehicle Information Center, located in your instrument cluster, or by pushing the designated button on your front center console.

The Rear Park Assist warning display is located in the instrument cluster’s EVIC display. When there is an obstacle detected in the rear path of your vehicle, the warning display will appear and will show three solid arcs and will sound a half-second beeping sound to alert you. As your Dodge Durango moves closer to the detected object, the display will show fewer arcs, and the tone will speed up until it becomes a continuous beep.

To ensure the Rear Park Assist functions properly, make sure that the rear bumper of your vehicle is clean of dirt, snow, ice, or other debris.
