The 2016 Dodge Charger is a fun family sedan that can be configured with some high-end features or an incredibly powerful engine. There are nine trim configurations to choose from when you factor in the drivetrain. With the extra options and packages, there is a Charger that is right for most people.
Engine and Performance
The Charger lets drivers choose from a range of engine options. The base 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 generates 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet, which increases to 300 horses and 264 pound-feet with the Rallye Group. This engine has the best-in-class fuel economy on the highway of 31 mpg.
Some Charger configurations run on the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, a class exclusive with the best-in-class figures for both horsepower and torque, 370 horses and 395 pound-feet. Moving up from there, the 2016 Charger R/T Scat Pack has a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 with the best-in-class 485 horsepower.
The Charger SRT Hellcat holds the title of the fastest, most powerful, and quickest sedan in the world thanks to its 6.2-liter HEMI SRT Hellcat supercharged V8 engine with 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet. This engine lets you get up to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds.
Behind the Wheel
With so much power across the 2016 Dodge Charger lineup, it is natural to wonder how this sedan handles. All configurations feel precise and sporty, and you will notice great balance plus control on tight turns. Even with the incredible performance and sporty styling, the Charger is quiet and perfect for normal driving or more performance-oriented tasks. Most experts suggest going with the 5.7-liter HEMI V8, as you will never feel as if the sedan is too heavy for the engine and doesn’t have any coarse sounds during acceleration. The 6.4-liter V8 has even better handling, but the ride becomes a little less firm as it focuses on performance instead. This is ideal for those who want top performance without breaking the bank.
Interior Comforts and Seating
The Dodge Charger can ensure that every passenger is comfortable thanks to available heated seats throughout and optional ventilated front seats. The interior is very spacious, and rear-seat passengers will have adequate room to stretch out thanks to the 104.7-cubic-foot interior space. You can also customize the steering wheel, getting a leather trim, paddle shifters, heat, and/or a flat bottom. For added comfort and convenience, every 2016 Charger has 60/40-split and folding rear seats and dual-zone air conditioning or automatic climate control.
Technology
Enter the modern world with the 2016 Dodge Charger. This is one of the few models on that market with available Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities in addition to things like Uconnect Access, HD and satellite radio, dual USB charging ports, voice commands, and Bluetooth. There is even an available BeatsAudio Premium Sound System to enhance your music while taking advantage of the Charger’s power.
Safety
In addition to basic safety features, like crumple zones, side guard door beams, active head restraints, and airbags, the 2016 Charger also has available advanced safety technologies. Opt for features like Adaptive Cruise Control featuring Stop, Rear Cross Path Detection, LaneSense Lane Departure Warning, and ParkSense Rear Park Assist.
