Your 2017 Jeep Renegade Overview
The Jeep Renegade is known for its off-road capabilities and excellent on-road handling, and the upcoming 2017 version will be no different. Details on the newest Renegade are still limited, but we know it will be the same SUV that drivers know and love with a few key updates. Stop by and visit our Dayton Area Jeep dealership for a first hand look at the newest member of the Jeep family.
New Cargo Features and More
Going with the Trailhawk or Limited trim on the 2017 Renegade will give you access to a brand-new removable cargo light. Now you can easily see what is going on in the cargo area of your SUV whether or not you are by a light source. You will still have the option to just take the light out if you don’t need it or don’t want to disturb the wildlife while off-road at night. There will also be new premium audio options and new automatic wipers on these trims.
Fun to Drive
Although no one has gotten behind the wheel of the 2017 Jeep Renegade yet, we have a good idea of what to expect from the driving dynamics, power, and handling based on the current and previous versions of this subcompact crossover. Jeep proved skeptics wrong with its athleticism doing off-roading, comfortable cabin, and fun-to-drive character.
Hopeful Improvements
Experts and Renegade owners alike have very few complaints about the current versions of the Renegade, but there are still some. Hopefully, the 2017 version will get better fuel economy and have less wind noise. It would also be nice if Jeep can somehow expand the cargo capacity and rear-seat legroom, although the Renegade’s interior space is expected for a subcompact crossover.
Same Familiar Trims
Just as with other model years, you will be able to configure your 2017 Jeep Renegade in one of four trim levels. The Sport trim is the base option, or you can move up to the Latitude or Limited. The top-of-the-line Trailhawk is ideal for those who plan on going off-road frequently.
Interior Updates
The newest version of the Renegade will have new features and an expanded list of those that come standard. You can expect the 60/40-split and folding rear seat, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and height adjustment for the driver’s seat to all be standard. Standard technology should include four speakers and an auxiliary audio jack. As with any Jeep model, the higher trims of the Renegade will provide you with even more features, such as leather on the steering wheel; a front passenger seat that folds flat; and technology, like voice commands, a 5-inch touchscreen, and six speakers.
Exterior Enhancements
If you were to put the current Jeep Renegade right next to the 2017 model, you will likely notice several important changes. Experts predict that the fewest updates will be made to the base Sport trim, with more advanced features available on higher trim levels. The Renegade should also get a little bit longer and wider with a wheelbase of around 2.5 meters and a length of 4.2 meters. Expect redesigned headlights, larger bumpers with new designs, and other adjustments to give the Renegade a more aggressive look.
