What is Electronic Stability Control? This is a feature of the all new 2013 Dodge Dart that monitors sensors in the steering column and passenger compartment. This is done to continually compare the steering action of the driver to the vehicle’s rotation around its vertical axis.
If the front end of a vehicle is under-steering, or not turning fast enough, ESC will automatically apply the inside rear brake. This is to help the vehicle achieve the turn that is desired.
When the rear end of the vehicle begins to fishtail or slide, ESC automatically engages the outside front brake. This is to correct any over-steering.
In addition to the braking, ESC may also reduce the engine power.
