New Features for 2018 Jeep Models

If you are interested in driving the latest Jeep around the Greater Dayton Area, then you’ll want to know what features are new for the latest model year. When you visit your local dealership, you will spot plenty of 2018 models on the lot, some of which have more changes than others.

Compass

The Jeep Compass was new for 2017, so it should come as no surprise that changes to the 2018 model are minimal. The Compass still delivers 180 horsepower from its 2.4-liter 4-cyliner engine and lets you pick from two different all-wheel-drive systems, including one that has low range. If you opt for the front-wheel-drive version, you can pick from a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission. Going with all-wheel drive lets you choose from the 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic.

Grand Cherokee

The biggest update to the Grand Cherokee is the addition of a Trackhawk Edition. This model is ready for anything with its V8 that generates 707 horsepower and an all-wheel-drive system with fortification. Because of this supercharged engine’s size, the Trackhawk also features some light suspension revisions and bigger Brembo brakes. It always comes with an 8-speed automatic, and the exterior features unique 20-inch wheels, yellow brake calipers, and quad exhaust outlets. Inside, this new addition has a 200-mph speedometer; expect to hit 60 mph in as little as 3.5 seconds or to tow as much as 7,200 pounds.

Wrangler

The latest Wrangler is all new and now goes by the name “JL.” It looks familiar at a glance, but take a closer look and you’ll notice updates abound. There is a new steel frame and now aluminum saves weight on the windshield frame, hinges, fenders, and doors, as well as the hood. The 2018 Wrangler grew by 1.4 or 2.4 inches in wheelbase and 2.5 or 3.5 inches for overall length. Although you can still get a model with two or four doors, the difference is no longer a matter of choosing an “Unlimited.” The extended list of standard features now includes five USB outlets, a backup camera, and more.
