As one of the most recognizable minivans in America, the Chrysler Voyager has been a popular choice for families for decades. And now Chrysler is bringing this classic name back to life as part of its 2020 lineup.
As an updated and rebadged version of another Chrysler minivan, this new arrival promises to deliver an affordable price tag with attractive accessories and reliable performance. With different trims and optional accessories available, this new Voyager has plenty to offer.
A Familiar Name On A Familiar Model
Although Chrysler is reviving the Voyager, it won’t be an original addition to their lineup. The reliable Pacifica is being rebadged as the Voyager, and their appearance is almost completely identical.
The Voyager has a slightly different body, cloth seats, and does not have some of the high-end materials or accessories that the Pacifica has. The pricing of the 2020 Voyager hasn’t been released yet, but experts believe the price will start around $28,000. This makes the Voyager a great option for those who want the reliability of a Pacifica, but do not want additional features or cannot afford the higher price tag.
However, the lower price of the Voyager does not translate to a lower quality vehicle. With impressive standard features and three different trims, the Voyager has something for everyone.
The Voyager L
The Voyager has three different trims, the L, LX, and LXi. The most basic trim, the L, comes with a number of impressive features that are standard across all of the Voyager trims. The L has a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 287 horsepower and a 9-speed automatic transmission. It also comes with a push-start ignition, an electronic handbrake, and a 3.5” display in the gauge cluster that displays readings from the car and other information to help you drive.
All trims of the Voyager will also come with a Uconnect 4 Infotainment system with a 7-inch display that has Bluetooth capability. The Infotainment system also comes standard with AppleCar and Andriod Auto, which makes connecting your device to the vehicle effortless.
The Voyager LX
The LX trim comes with all of the standard features included with the L, but it also comes with a few exclusive accessories. The LX includes Sirius Satellite radio, and it also has two captain’s chairs rather than a second-row bench seat. At the base of each captain’s chair are convenient storage spaces that are large enough to fit backpacks, lunch boxes, toys, tackle boxes, and other items.
These captain’s chairs are removable if you need extra space in the back of your Voyager. The LX also comes with 17” aluminum wheels instead of the 17” steel wheels that come with on the L.
The Voyager LXi
The LXi trim will be fleet-only and will come with exclusive features that make it more attractive to businesses and car rental companies. The LXi trim will come with remote start capability, leatherette seats, and an auto-dim rearview mirror and second-row sunshades to help you handle those sunny days.
The LXi will also come with Stow N’ Go capability for the second row of seats. The Stow N’ Go capability allows passengers to collapse the seats down and store them in the floor. This gives drivers extra room in the back without having to completely remove the second row of seats.
Optional Accessories
The Voyager also has a number of attractive optional accessories that you can add on to these trims. The L and LX both have the option to add on Chrysler’s SafetyTec System, which has features like ParkSense Park Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross Path Detection, which detects vehicles and objects that are about to cross behind the vehicle. You also have the option of adding a roof rack and an overhead DVD player to the LX.
And for drivers who are disabled or have disabled family members, you can add on the BraunAbility side or rear-conversions to make the vehicle wheelchair accessible. It includes additional ramps, a bigger interior, and wider entry points.
