2012 Ram Truck: RamBox

Your new 2012 Dodge Ram Truck is equipped with a RamBox. The RamBox system is an integrated pick-up box storage and cargo management system. It contains of 3 features:
1) Integrated box side storage bins

  • Located on both sides of the cargo box
  • Provide weather-proof lockable storage
  • Stores up to 150-lbs of evenly distributed cargo
  • To open the storage bin, press and release the button on the lid. The bin lid will open upward for easy access
  • The interior will automatically illuminate when opened (also has a manual on/off switch located at the rear of each bin)
  • Can be locked using the auxiliary key
  • Feature two removable drain plus to allow water to drain (to remove, pull up on the edge)

2) Cargo extender divider – has 3 functional positions: storage position, divider position, and extender position
Storage position

  • located in the front of the truck bed
  • Maximizes cargo area when not being used

To install into the storage position…

  • Make sure the storage handle is unlocked using the auxiliary key
  • Rotate the center handle until it is vertical to release the extender side gates
  • With the side gates open, position the extender completely forward in the bed of the truck, against the front panel
  • Rotate the side gates closed completely to allow the out board ends to be positioned in front of the cargo tie-down loops
  • Rotate the center handle until horizontal to secure the side gates
  • Lock with the auxiliary key – this will discourage theft

Divider position

  • Purpose is to manage cargo, assisting cargo from moving around in the bed
  • There are 11 divider slots in your Ram Truck bed inner panels to allow for many positions at which the divider can assist in managing your cargo

To install into the divider position…

  • Make sure the storage handle is unlocked using the auxiliary key
  • Rotate the center handle until it is vertical to release the extender side gates
  • With the side gates open, position the extender so the out board end is aligned with the intended slot in the sides of the bed
  • Rotate the side gates closed completely to allow the out board ends to be secured at the intended slots of the bed
  • Rotate the center handle until horizontal to secure the side gates
  • Lock with the auxiliary key – this will discourage theft

Extender position

  • Allows you to manage loads in your Ram Truck that extend past the sides of the bed and onto the tailgate
  • It will add an additional 15 inches (38 cm) in the back of the truck
  • It uses a locating pin and rotating handle, which are located on both sides of the truck bed near the tailgate

To install into the extender position

  • Lower the tailgate
  • Make sure the storage handle is unlocked using the auxiliary key
  • Rotate the center handle until it is vertical to release the extender side gates
  • Fit the end of the side gates ends into the pin and handle
  • Rotate the handle horizontally to secure it
  • Do on both sides

Bed rail tie down system

  • Uses two adjustable cleats on each side of the bed
  • Used in assisting the securing of cargo
  • Each cleat should be located and tightened down into one of the detents along either rail to keep cargo secured properly
  • To move the cleat, turn the nut counterclockwise, approximately 3 times, pull out on the cleat, slide into the detent, and tighten the nut by turning it clockwise approximately 3 times
  • There are also tie down hooks at each corner of the bed, near the floor.
