Quality
When the Dodge experts sat down and designed the 2011 DodgeDurango, they were designing it as if they would be driving it themselves. They wanted it to be a car that they would want to drive.
Jack Dolan, Chief Engineer of the 2011 Dodge Durango understood that the owners want the utmost quality in their new Dodge. According to Dolan, this is the most tested Dodge Durango in the history of the line, which is proven by the 13.5 million miles of quality testing that was performed. It was tested in many conditions, even including the hot climate of the Arizona desert, mountains, and the coldest regions in the North. This was all done to ensure that the Durango was equipped to handle any task, in any climate.
The quality testers implemented a new level of daily testing procedures in their manufacturing facilities. By July 18, 2011, over 4000 Durango’s had been brought into that testing facility. A small number of miles were put on the cars to ensure the quality of the car before it went into the hands of the customer.
Refinement
According to Dolan, the features of the Durango in terms of design are comparable to those vehicles in a higher price segment of luxury cars, such as Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. They used something called “double dash construction” meaning, there are two levels of isolation between the motor and the driver’s cab or compartment. This was done so that the high-power engine would run as it should, but to seem far away from the driver’s ears.
The Dodge Durango has laminated glass, which shields the driver and passenger from outside road noise.
The innovative fuel saving technology is something that makes the Dodge Durango as refined as it is. The power steering pump is something that works all the time on a standard car; however it only needs to operate when the assist is required for steering effort. Thus, the Dodge Durango’s electric pump only operates when necessary.
According to Vince Galante, one of the designers of the Dodge Durango, this luxury vehicle has 20 inch wheels that were designed with the sculpture of the body style in mind.
