The Upcoming RAM 1500 EV Pickup

According to RAM, the brand is looking to provide an electric 1500 pickup truck starting in 2024. Alongside this pickup, RAM plans to produce a wide range of other electric vehicles, like a RAM midsize pickup truck that may be fully electric or a hybrid. 

The upcoming RAM 1500 EV pickup has a lot of competition already, like the upcoming Ford F-150 Lightning and the 2022 GMC Hummer EV. But RAM is looking to dominate the competition right out of the gate.

How Will the 1500 EV Pickup Differ from the Competition?

According to RAM, the new 1500 EV pickup will have a range of around 500 miles, boasting battery packs that offer between 159 to 200 kWh depending on the exact model. More importantly, this electric pickup truck should be capable of fast charging with 800 V architecture – this is a key concern for many pickup owners who don’t want to be stranded when they need to get somewhere because their batteries are dead.

On top of that, the RAM 1500 EV should have a very quick acceleration time, at least for going from 0 to 60 mph. It’s all thanks to the STLA Frame platform, on which the electric truck will be built. This is one of the four battery electric vehicle platforms that Stellantis plans to use for all 14 of its total brands (Stellantis is the parent brand behind RAM). 

The STLA Frame platform will support both the RAM 1500 light-duty electric vehicle plus an upcoming RAM heavy-duty electric truck. The electric motors on the back and front of the vehicle will ensure that the 1500 EV comes with all-wheel-drive capability.

Unfortunately, the RAM 1500 EV is not yet available. It’s expected to be on sale in 2024 for an estimated price of $45,000, though these details could change in the future.

RAM electric vehicles are here to stay, and you can expect that the automaker will produce more EVs in the future.

In the long-term, Stellantis claims that all RAM vehicles in its lineup will have some amount of electrification, even if it’s not full electric batteries and momentum systems.
