Engines and Towing

The 2016 Compass comes with one of two engines. The base 158-horsepower 2-liter 4-cylinder has 141 pound-feet of torque. It works with a 5-speed manual or CVT automatic to deliver up to 30 mpg on the highway; you can go over 400 miles without having to stop and refuel. For more power, opt for the 2.4-liter World Engine and have access to 172 horsepower and a torque of 165 pound-feet. It works with a 6-speed automatic with smooth shifting to give you 28 mpg on the highway or a standard 5-speed manual. Depending on how you configure your Jeep Compass, you will be able to tow as much as 2,000 pounds.
